What is the Black Blank Screen?

The Black Blank Screen makes your entire screen go completely black with just one click. Think of it like turning off your screen, but your computer stays on. The buttons above let you create a black screen instantly - perfect for taking a quick eye break, checking if your display has any bright spots, or just enjoying a moment of darkness while keeping your device running.

How to Use

On Desktop Computers

  1. Regular Mode: Click the “Black Screen” button above to turn this page completely black.
  2. Fullscreen Mode: Click the “Black Screen (Fullscreen)” button to make the black screen fill your entire monitor.

On iPhones, iPads, and Other Mobile Devices

  1. Regular Mode: Tap the “Black Screen” button above to cover this page with black.
  2. Fullscreen Mode: Tap the “Black Screen (Fullscreen)” button. On mobile devices:
    • A black video will appear with a play button in the center
    • Tap the play button to start the video
    • Tap the fullscreen icon in the video controls for a completely black screen
    • The video will play in a loop until you exit fullscreen

Note: This tool has been tested on iOS 16 and iOS 18. It should work on other versions of iOS and Android, but your experience may vary slightly.

Getting Back to This Page

On Desktop:

  • Double-click anywhere on the black screen to return
  • Press the ESC key to exit (works for both modes)

On iPhones and iPads:

  • Tap the “Done” button in the corner of your screen
  • Or swipe up from the bottom of your screen
  • Or tap once to reveal controls, then tap the exit button

On Android:

  • Tap the back button on your device
  • Or swipe up from the bottom of your screen
  • Or tap once to show video controls, then tap the exit button

Tips for the Best Experience

  • On iPhones and iPads, turn your device sideways (landscape mode) before using fullscreen
  • Lower your screen brightness first if using for eye rest
  • The screen will look completely black - this is normal and your device is still on
  • Important battery note: This tool does NOT save battery power. Playing a video actually consumes battery, so remember to exit the black screen when you’re done. For battery savings, turn your device off or use your device’s built-in screen timeout feature.

Common Uses

  • Eye Rest: Give your eyes a break without turning off your device
  • Display Testing: Check for stuck pixels or uneven lighting
  • Focus Moments: Create brief mental breaks from screen time
  • Presentation Tool: Use as a blank transition between slides

About This Tool

This tool places a black layer over your screen content. In fullscreen mode, it covers your entire screen.

On mobile devices, it uses your device’s built-in video player to show a completely black video, giving you a clean experience without browser elements visible.

For the best experience, use in a dimly lit room where you can easily see the edge of your screen.
